Burgers & Beer compra el edificio The Huddle

BOURBONNAIS - The former Huddle Sports Bar in Bourbonnais Township will be the newest location for the ever-expanding, locally owned Burgers & Beer restaurant franchise.

Scott Irps, co-owner of Burgers & Beer, confirmed later this week that the owning group purchased the former Huddle property, 1887 Armor Road, in Bourbonnais, from businessman Mike Allegro.

Irps said the location probably won't be ready for customers until mid-summer. He anticipates that the restaurant will have a staff of 25 to 30 full-time and part-time employees.

Irps, along with partner brothers and sisters Brent Manau and Jill Manau, are making big moves with the business, which is experiencing quite large growth in recent months.

Burgers & Beer started in January 2014 when the trio opened the first restaurant at the former Kankakee VFW location, at 756 W. Jeffery St.

Since then, the owners have opened locations in South Wilmington, Gibson City, and Fairbury. Irps said the group will open a fifth restaurant in Tuscola state in May and a sixth location in northwestern Illinois in Seneca in June.

Manau and Irps are also owner partners of the Herscher-based Country Chevrolet dealer.

Irps said additional partners were included in the purchase of the Huddle building because of the size of the property, just over 4,700 square feet on 1.07 acres, near the corner of Illinois 50 and Armor Road.

The restaurant menu is just as the name implies. Locations feature a wide variety of specialty burgers, fries, and a wide beer list.

"We are pretty good at what we do. We have been fortunate, ”said Irps. "We are excited to be part of the Bradley and Bourbonnais area."

The location is at the heart of the retail and manufacturing area expansion along Illinois 50. The restaurant is separated only by Armor Road from the entrance to CSL Behring.

"We like what we have," said Irps. “We are excited to own this and to be a part of our community. This area (Armor and Illinois 50) appears to be strengthening. We believe this is perfect for Burgers & Beer. "

The location has struggled to find sustained success with a restaurant.

In addition to the Huddle, the location had been home to Bela's Kitchen, Warehouse Wood Grill, and John's Pub restaurants.
