KANKAKEE — The proposed Riverwalk development, crime and shrinking home ownership were subjects of debate between three candidates vying for a seat on the 14-member Kankakee City Council.

At Tuesday night’s Kankakee County Branch of the NAACP-hosted debate, 6th Ward candidates Michael Cobbs, a Democrat, and Ed Pentuic, the Republican candidate, voiced their views on a variety of issues. Fourth Ward candidate Karren Farmer, a Democrat, also shared her views as they prepare for the April 2 election.

Farmer will face off against Republican incumbent Alderwoman Danita Grant Swanson in the midterm election. Swanson was not at the forum ...
