School promises college-like feel

KANKAKEE — Kankakee High School, which is undergoing a massive construction project just weeks before school begins, is not the way Kayla Johnson remembers it.

As she walked into the school’s main entrance Wednesday, the 2018 graduate said, “This looks like a warehouse.”

“It won’t be when it’s done,” said Ed Wright, the architect for the nearly $20 million project.
