Gov. Bruce Rauner is keeping a close eye on Washington today, where the U.S. Supreme Court is expected to rule on Janus vs. AFSCME, a labor case which originated in Illinois.

Ruling on union fees expected Monday

The U.S. Supreme Court is expected to decide today whether millions of workers across the county have the right to work for the government without having to pay fees to a union.

The decision will be based on an Illinois case known as Janus vs. AFSCME.

Mark Janus, a child support specialist for the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services, says his First Amendment rights guaranteeing him freedom of association are being violated because he is forced to pay a union he doesn’t agree with politically.
